Thanks to a $95,000 grant from the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI), two new EV charging stations will be installed at Rentschler Forest MetroPark and the Voice of America MetroPark Athletic Complex. The federal Carbon Reduction Fund grant is provided without a local match requirement.

“MetroParks of Butler County eagerly anticipates offering our visitors the option to recharge their electric vehicles,” says Director of Planning Zeb Acuff, “Whether taking a walk along the Great Miami River Trail at Rentschler Forest MetroPark or attending a soccer tournament at Voice of America MetroPark, we welcome visitors to take advantage of these convenient charging stations while enjoying MetroParks of Butler County’s recreational opportunities.”

This is the second OKI Carbon Reduction Fund grant awarded to MetroParks this year. The previous round, announced in the spring, will fund a charger at the Lodge at Voice of America MetroPark. This current round will add chargers at the Voice of America MetroPark Fieldhouse and Rentschler Forest MetroPark, near the award-winning playground and the Great Miami River Trail.

Charger installation is anticipated to begin in 2025.
