MetroParks Opens Butler County's Second Public Archery Range

On October 1st, the community can take aim at the second FREE public archery range in Butler County. The range is located at Meadow Ridge MetroPark in Madison Township, 20 miles away from the county’s only other public archery range at Hueston Woods State Park. Both youth and adult archers can hone their skills on the nine-acre range, open daily during regular park hours (8 am - dusk).

“Bringing the Meadow Ridge MetroPark archery range to life was a community effort,” says Zeb Acuff, MetroParks’ Director of Planning. In 2023, MetroParks was approached by Young Guns Archery, a local non-profit that trains female and child archers about creating a range at Meadow Ridge MetroPark. MetroParks knew that the desire for an archery facility in northeast Butler County was strong and partnered with Young Guns to consult on the range’s design. Young Guns Archery also provided the range’s targets through a grant from the Middletown Community Foundation and a matching donation, and a local Eagle Scout built the target frames. A big thanks to MetroParks’ partners for helping to make the archery range a reality!

Although there are no equipment rentals at the range, plenty of bows and arrows will be available for kids interested in trying out the sport on October 3rd at the Young Guns University Archery Clinic.
